Pinus mugo pumilio also go by the name mountain pine, Swiss mountain pine and dwarf mountain pine. This pine, as the name suggests, come from high mountains of Europe. These include the Alps, Pyrenees, Apennines, and Balkans. In the wild, they extend into the subalpine and even alpine zones. Although grown as a dwarf, in their native haunts, they can reach 2 m. You can maintain them as a small-sized conifer for several years.
Pinus mugo pumilio, is propagated from seed and is much more variable in mature size, ranging in height and in spread.
Use in foundation plantings, shrub borders, and massed groupings, or as a specimen or accent plant in rock gardens and pots.
